- A total of 7.9 million applications have been submitted to the EUSS since its inception.
- Out of these, 5.7 million people have been granted status through the scheme.
- Till 31 March 2024, overall 7.8 million EUSS applications have been concluded.
According to the UKVI EUSS statistics, these applications were made till the transition period at 11 pm on 31 December 2020. The data has been released the results by March 2024. These applications correspond to 6.3 million in total as many applicants made multiple submissions for the EUSS.
The EU Settlement Scheme provided a chance for the EU and EEA residents living in the UK to get approved settled (immigration) status in the UK even after Brexit along with their family members.
People who have been EUSS Status Granted
EU nationals combined with EEA countries and Swiss citizens made 7.9 million applications under the EU settlement scheme of the UK. Overall, 5.7 million accepted EUSS, distribution has been as follows:
- 3.8 million EU nationals received settled status; and
- 1.9 million were given pre-settled status.
EUSS Applications Concluded
Please do note that the following numbers are for the applications concluded and not the applicants receiving the conclusions:
- By 31 March 2024, 7.8 million EUSS applications had been concluded.
- 49% of these applications (3.8 million) were granted settled status.
- 36% (2.8 million) were granted pre-settled status.
- 14% of applications had other outcomes.
- Other outcomes included 691,200 refusals, 196,810 withdrawn or void applications, and 219,640 invalid applications.
Repeat Applications
Over the years since 2018, 1.3 million applicants made submissions more than once. These leave from 7.9 million a total of 6.3 million individuals who have sought to take part in the EU Settlement Scheme through one eligible application.

EUSS Family Permits
By the conclusion of the transition period, the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) family permit facilitates the reunion of family members with EU, other EEA, and Swiss citizens residing in the UK.
These family members, who typically hold pre-settled or settled status under the EUSS, are eligible to join their relatives in the UK. Additionally, qualifying British citizens returning to the UK after residing in the EEA or Switzerland before August 9, 2023, may also avail themselves of this provision.
Upon arrival, family members can subsequently apply for the requisite immigration status through the EUSS, ensuring their lawful residence in the UK.
Applications through derivative right to reside
Derivative rights applicants are individuals who, while not meeting the criteria for a right of residence under the Free Movement Directive, may have previously held a right to reside in the UK under alternative EU legislation before the conclusion of the transition period. Applications made by this route and outcome type, 28 August 2018 to 31 March 2024 are as follows:
