The US State Department has released statistics about all countries of the world according to which 562,976 immigrant and 10.4 million nonimmigrant visas were approved in 2023.
According to the new rules, many EU countries can benefit from the visa waiver program of the US. However, the statistics show the visa issued which are applied by the people living in EU region countries. These include people who hold a nationality of the EU country but are not eligible for the visa waiver program, or the third-country nationals resident there.
The United States also includes countries like Albania, Tajikistan, Andora, Albaina, the UK, Turkey, and many other EU countries as a part of the EU region for statistics. The list includes 56 countries for this region including their territories.
Statistics of Immigrant Visas
Compared with other regions of the world, fewer people applied for immigrant visas in the United States in 2023 from the EU region countries. Overall, 45,946 immigrant visas were granted and this is the second-highest number during the last 10 years. The immigrant visas give the holders to stay in the US permanently based on employment, family reunification, special immigration classes, sponsored streams., and Diversity visa programs.
Nationals of Russia dominated the list by getting most of the visas 5,698. Citizens of Uzbekistan (4,044), and Ukraine (3,720) were 2nd and 3rd in the list respectively. Below are the countries from this region with the highest visas awarded in the immigrant category:

Statistics for nonimmigrant visas
Under the nonimmigrant visa category about 951,775 applicants got approvals. This visa category is based on a temporary stay in the US for the reasons of tourism, medical appointments, or family/friends get-togethers (B1/B2 visa streams).
Most of the visas under the nonimmigrant category were issued to the nationals of Turkey (130,168). People living in the United Kingdom were approved 95,754 visas. Residents in Russia (67,777), Germany (65,690), and Romania (60,474) got 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions respectively.
